What happens to a hybrid vehicle when the battery dies? Would the hybrid vehicle operate just like any ordinary vehicle? I'm thinking of buying a used hybrid and I'm worried what will happen if the battery dies, and I don't replace the battery (because they are so expensive)
What would happen if everyone owned a hybrid vehicle? Lets say that a majority of people owned a hybrid vehicle...which is basically only produced by foreign Honda and Toyota i believe. What would this do economically? How would this effect gas prices? the environment? Would Ford and Chevy continue to produce more gas guzzlers and just reduce the prices on them? Or would they need to increase the prices on those vehicle? Or maybe just stop making guzzlers?? Maybe they would begin making more and more hybrids or some other alternative to compete with Honda and Toyota...what would be the immediate and long term impact if more and more people bought hybrids??
What are the draw backs to owning a hybrid vehicle? I am considering purchasing an hybrid vehicle this weekend, but want to do more homework first. Everyone talks about the pros, can someone tell me about the cons? How do the hold up in cold and snowy climates? Your candidness would be GREATLY appreciated!!
Have you considered buying a hybrid vehicle, like the Toyota Prius? My brother recently bought a Prius and is very happy with it. The benefits to the environment and the savings at the gas pump are obvious. But are you seriously considering taking that next step? Do you already own a hybrid vehicle? If so, are you pleased with the purchase? If not, would you buy one? Why or why not?
Would a hybrid vehicle run efficiently in cold weather? I am living in Fairbanks AK, and well it gets pretty cold here (-40/-50 F) during the winter. I am looking into getting a new vehicle and have heard that a hybrid would not be an ideal vehicle here because they don't run well in cold weather. I am hoping someone can either confirm or deny this rumour, and if it wouldn't run, why not?
Is there special parking for Hybrid vehicle drivers where you live? What do you think about this? I saw this on the news this morning! We do not have any around here in OH that I know of yet, but I wouldn't doubt they are coming! Apparently, they are already in TX, CA and a few other states! Isn't this discrimination? Just because I can't afford a Hybrid vehicle should they get better parking than me? Hell, then they get the better car and better parking, trust me if I had the money, I would go Hybrid to save the gas money and environment! First we have 'handicapped parking' (which in my opinion should be the only 'special parking'), then we have 'expecting mother parking' (these are all over in OH, in my opinion they are B/S, we don't have 'already mommy parking', anyways they are going to be walking all over the mall/store anyways), now Hybrid parking (again I think this is B/S)...what is next? Republican parking?
Is the Ford Escape Hybrid a good vehicle? I'm looking into it but don't know much about it. How is reliability, handling, and resale value? Also, does this hybrid qualify for the federal tax rebate for hybrid vehicles?
What maintenance is required on a hybrid vehicle? I am considering buying a Toyota Prius but am concerned about hidden costs & inconveniences. What is required to keep them running on a daily basis and is the maintence schedule more rigorous than it would be for a regular vehicle?
A hybrid vehicle that seats more than 4 people? I would like to buy a hybrid vehicle, but we are a family of five (no prius for us!) and need a little more room. Are there many hybrids on the market that seat a minimum of 5 (sometimes more) and are safe/dependable? Any suggestions?
How does hybrid vehicle work? What's the difference between a mild hybrid verses a full hybrid? Why the actual horsepower is different from combined? I would like to know how it works as well.
What makes a "hybrid" vehicle different? What do they do to hybrid vehicles, such as the Ford Escape Hybrid, to make them hybrid? How does it save the environment? How is a hybrid Ford Escape different than a regular Ford Escape?
what is your opinion on hybrid vehicle? do you think it really saves your money on gasoline? or will it possibly spend more money to replace the battery, repair, etc? honestly i dont care much about the environment but my only concern is if it can truly be more economic and efficient way to save money than regular non-hybrid cars.
What sort of hybrid vehicle would be better for the environment: plug-in or E85? Plug-in hybrids will use batteries for city travel, and so they will seem to be cleaner vehicles than typical gasoline engines, but they will use power from the grid, which may be coal-fired, or oil-driven (or in some cases hydro, nuclear or other). So would they be better or worse for the environment than E85 hybrids (which can use 85% ethanol, but in many cases would use less)? Note: I don't drive; just looking for the lesser of two evils for the short-term future auto-dependent population!
Is a hybrid vehicle worth it while living in the mountains? I live in WV and plan to purchase a new car within the next few months. My original plan, which I was excited about, was to purchase my first hybrid vehicle. But after talking with a few people, I learned that hybrid vehicles aren't really worth it in the mountains because the gas engine is needed more frequently than normal.
Would you pay extra to buy a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle if it could run for 30-50 miles on electric only? Would a car that ran for 30-50 miles between recharges on electricity only, but could switch instantly to conventional hybrid electric mode when the batteries ran low work for your lifestyle? Some hybrid vehicles can be converted to have a longer electric-only range and recharge overnight, but so far the major auto-makers don't sell that option from the factory. Would you be willing to pay a premium over the price of a conventonal hybrid vehicle to get a 30-50 mile range of electric-only operation (short commute or day shopping) with an electric-only operating cost cheaper than that of a conventional Internal combustion engine or HEV? If so, what factors might influence you? Electric-only range? Initial-cost? Initial-cost versus fuel-savings? Fuel-savings alone? Eco-friendliness? PHEV's can be both cost-effective, and more eco-friendly! If we can show that market demand is there, perhaps they will come sooner!
Would you buy a Hybrid vehicle? Im thinking of buying a hybrid suv but its more expensive than a normal vehicle. It saves gas but is the money you paid for worth it?
