Is it smart to buy a Smart Fortwo? I'm thinking about buying a Smart Fortwo. Do you think buying a Mercedes-Benz decked out golf cart is a good choice to battle the rising gas prices?
Can a smart fortwo car drive on a 2hr 30 min. trip on up, down, and curvy roads in the mountains? My hometown is 2hrs and 20 mins away where I currently live right now and in order to get there, I will have to drive through the mountains going on a few up, down, and curvy roads on the highway. So I am wondering if a smart fortwo car is tough enough to handle those types of roads.
Will the Smart Fortwo offered in the US have cruise control as an option? The Smart Fortwo ultra small car will be offered in the US in 2008 through dealerships in the Penske automotive group. Will these cars have cruise control as an option? It's not listed on their website anywhere (http://www.smartusa.com/ ).

where can i find a smart fortwo pure for under $15,000? i have been looking everywhere for a used or new smart fortwo, but if i get a new one for 11,590 i have to get on a waiting list, and if i chose to buy a used one people jack up the prices to nearly 30 grand. i need a cheap new or used one soon, so can someone point me in the direction of a good deal on one, i live in lafayette louisiana but i planned on getting one from houston texas.

Does anyone own a Smart forTwo? If you do, I would be greatly appreciative if you could provide me with the dimensions of the cargo area- behind the seats. All the specs I have seen only provide the cubic dimension, not the actual size. Thanks! My question isn't whether I should buy one or not, and "3 full shopping bags" is a good answer if I knew how big the shopping bags were... ... and how they are oriented in the car.
Will Smart ForTwo be a success in the U.S?its expensive and not that efficient.? I don't think Americans will like this car. Don't get me wrong,I am one of those people that gets labeled a 'treehugger' often by my collegues but Smart ForTwo isn't that economical or gas efficient for that matter. According to www.smartusa.com, at the faq section, the bast price starts at $11,600, then 13,600 for a higher one, then 16600 for the highest trim level. and using 2008 EPA MPG calculation method, it will only average around 33/41. I mean come on, there are cars like fit,Civic,Yaris,Versa,Sentra that gets just as good mileage and cost about the same. The car just looks unsafe and I wouldn't dare to drive that piece of crap on the highway. so if efficiency was the same and the cost is the same,would you buy a car that doesn't look like a wheel chair that can't fit more than 2 people ?
Why does the new SMART ForTwo get worse mileage than a 1990s Geo/Chevy Metro? I was looking forward to the release of the SMART fortwo, but it seems to me the mileage sucks for what it is. It gets 40 city/45 highway by EPA 2007 standards (33/41 for 2008). As I recall, the 3-cylinder geo metro sold about a decade ago got over 50MPG, was bigger, had comparable power/acceleration, and had (tiny) rear stats. With all the technology in the SMART and it's small size, I was expecting it to get better mileage than the old 3-cylinder Geo/Chevy metros. Can anyone explain what the big mileage drag is? In answer to the question below, I looked it up, and both vehicles have/had a 1L 3 cylinder engine. Also, according to fueleconomy.gov, the metro creamed the fortwo on mileage. The Geo Metro XFI got 43/51 by 2008 EPA standards. (fueleconomy.gov converts old vehicles to the 2008 standard). Safety may be part of it, but I don't think its the whole story. Despite being smaller, the SMART is 1,808 lb. The Metro was 1650, a difference of 150 lb. However, I don't think such a small difference in weight (under 10% heavier) would account for 10MPG!
2008 smart fortwo pure, Safety Issues?? I think this car was a very clever Idea. And Im thinking about buying it.But what happens if you get into an accident? Do you think that you would be safer in a regular 4 door car? I mean what would happen if a semi hit you?
