Hybrid car? Which hybrid car do you get a tax cut for driving? I know its not the toyota one.
What are the positives and negatives of a hybrid a car? I have been involved in a lot of environmental work sinced I educated myself with global warming. I own a car, but it's a truck. I really want to get rid of it and trade it in for a hybrid car. I heard that hybrid cars don't have the best life span and also more expensive to maintain (to fix), and the battery cost a lot if it dies. Could someone please tell me more information about hybrid cars?
Why not a turbine powered hybrid car similar to an aircraft APU? Ok so with all of the inefficiencies of the reciprocating internal combustion engine why don’t they make a hybrid car powered by a small centrifugal turbine that would work like an aircraft APU. The car would have an all electric drive system and the turbine would produce electricity for the electric motor. The FADEC computer would control fuel flow to the turbine as more power was needed. Trains have been doing this for decades so why not cars? A plus would be that you could use any liquid or flammable gas for fuel. Ok you missed the piont it is an electric car not driven directly by the turbine but buy the electricity produced by a generator connected to the turbine A single stage centrifugal flow turbine could be machined from a single piece of metal using computerized tools so it would be less complicated to manufacture than an internal combustion engine I would not consider using and actual aircraft APU I was thinking of something about the size of a turbocharger or maybe a little larger but similar in function to an APU Get the car moving using battery power then use ram air to help spin up the turbine
How much nickel is mined for one hybrid car battery? I am curious to know how much nickel is mined for the average hybrid car battery? I've heard hybrids toted as the solution, but nickel is a finite resource which must be mined. As I understand it the batteries are extremely heavy composed of mostly nickel.
Can a hybrid car take a major car crash, is it safe to drive? I know hybrid cars is good for gas but, my concern is safety reasons, towards car crashes/accidents. it's a small car, can it take the punishment. If you own one, and had a accident w/your hybrid, please fill me in with the some details. Or stick with a SUV?
What is the average cost of a used hybrid car these days? I am becoming environmentally conscious and would like a hybrid car. I have no preference of maker. I am about to go to college, so the cost is very important. I know these cars are not cheap, because they are still relatively new in today's market, but I would like to know their typical cost range? Thanks.
How difficult would it be to make a hybrid car using a CNG engine? Think about it. The Honda Civic CNG has the smallest carbon footprint of any combustion engine. If this car was also a hybrid, you would kill three birds with one stone. First, oil dependence is gone and U.S. has abundant reserves of natural gas. Second, you would increase the range of the car dramatically and you would have a car that gets the greatest MPG of any other production car. Third, you would have such small carbon emissions that a new category would be needed to classify this vehicle. The only downside that I can see is a limited storage area. Am I missing something?
What battery voltage for a Hybrid car use? Can we install extra solar panel on the top of the car? All all hybrid car use same battery voltage? What is the battery voltage in general? Why the manufacture don't install solar panel on the top of the car to charge up the battery even the car is parking. The solar panel can be a thin and less wind resistance as possible or even stick at the top of the car, so no wind resistance. A solar panel, in general of that size, just cost around 300 to 400, compare to a 20k hybrid car, it is just a small cost.. But in long term, it generate lot of energy to charge up the car.
Is it economical to purchase a hybrid car? I have noticed that the hybrid cars cost $10,000 to $12,000 more for the same style car that is gasoline powered. I can not find out any information that compares the maintainence cost mile for mile of the different types of cars. I do not qualify for the tax rebate to purchase a hybrid. So am I saving money or not if I buy one?
What is it like to drive a hybrid car? For example, a Camry hybrid or something similar. How do they drive? Is performance lacking? Also, how does it impact the car's reliability and longevity? And are repairs complicated or expensive? Thanks for the insight.
Is the h20 exhaust from a hybrid car contaminated? I am naive to the construction of hybrid engines, but would the exhaust from a hydrogen cell car, which is supposedly water, be contaminated with particles from the oil or any other substances within the engine?
What is the Highest MPG for a non hybrid car? I am doing a report on hybrid cars in class and i wish to make a comparison of MPG and other features of a hybrid car to a non hybrid car and wish to ccompare the hybrid against a high MPG non hybrid car. Please only tell me cars that are or were on the market within the last 10 years and no extra packages, just the car straight from the factory.
What are the Economics of a Hybrid car? This always comes to mind. If you can buy a car for $20K that gets around 35 miles per gallon, and you can buy a car for $30K that gets 40 miles per gallon, are you really doing the environment a favor? Basically, you have to drive back and forth to work to earn an extra $10K to buy that Hybrid? You have to earn at least 33% more to save 12%.
How can I calculate if a hybrid car is worth buying? I've seen plenty of calculators that only calculate the cost of gas savings for hybrid cars vs. both other hybrids and non-hybrids. But are there any calculators for figuring in initial purchase price, expected maintenance, and environmental factors? Even better, any that show a graph showing the "break even" point for that combined cost (e.g. the additional initial cost for a hybrid will even out in x years and y months due to gas and other savings)?
I want to buy a hybrid car & want some recommendations? What car is a good one to buy? I tend to lean toward imports, including Japanese, German, etc. & am looking at Toyotas, Hondas, and whatever else I can find. What do you think? Tell me about your experiences with hybrid cars?
What is the best Hybrid car in the market right now? I ask because I'm planning to buy one. I just can't decide which one to get. I looked up the reviews on all the hybrid cars (Yahoo Auto) but still can't make up my mind. I just want something within $20-25K price range. Thank you.
What are the disadvantages of using a hybrid car? I have read everything available on the subject on all the major search engines. If you have any personal inputs, then please post them here. This is for a symposium on : "Hybrid Cars: A Cause of Concern"
Where can I buy solar pannels for my electric/hybrid car? Where can I buy some sollar pannels to put on the roof or on the hood of a car? The car I have right now, is a total junk. It's a gas and it's totally sluggish, plus it's old so it smells like shit. I'm seriously thinking about buying an electric vehicle or a used hybrid so I can save up on some money. I'm totally broke and I'm unemployed most of the time. But I have ten or so grand I can spend from credit if I can put it into something as a callateral that I can show to the bank, which an electric or hybrid hevicle is perfect because it barely depreciated or at least depreciates a lot less that ICE cars. Plus me being broke doesn't help at all with the gass prices, I can berely afford to drive at all with a car, but I can have an electric vehicle as long as it has some extra solar pannels and some extra batteries, which is ok for me in terms of finances because they will be covered by the low interest loan, easy money.
How does a hybrid car work? I know that hybrid cars are a combination of gas and electric energy, but I don't exactly understand how it is that it works. How is it that these cars are more environmentally friendly, and why do they get better gas mileage?
How does a hybrid car work, step by step? Do you know any sites that explain in detail how a hybrid car works? For ex, from the begining of turning on engine it sends a signal...etc. maybe something like that, that explains it in detail. or if you know for yourseld share the wisdom! =) I am writing a process essay for my english class thats why. Some sites would help! pls!
When should I buy a new hybrid car? I am in the market to buy a new car in the up coming year or two. I want a hyprid becuase of the gas milage ect...
