Efficient Car Knowledge Base
What is the most fuel efficient car available? I am not interested in the Toyota Prius, Honda Insight, Hybrid Civic, or any other Honda or Toyota hybrid. What I'm really looking for is the most fuel efficient non hybrid car in the world. Cars like the Aygo, Panda, and Smart. Although, if someone has turned one of these already fuel efficient small cars (like the Aygo) into a hybrid, I would love to hear about it.
What is the cheapest and most gas efficient car out there? My car is broke down and I need some thing that is cheap and gas efficient. Any ideas on what is best for a single mom? I want a newer car that I can finance. I dont want to lease. I just dont want a friggin payment, so I wanna pay it off asap!
What is the best fuel efficient small car for a college student? I am a college student looking to spend as little as possible on gas. Have money saved up and parents will help a little with down payment so price isnt TO big of an issue but definitely something less than $18,000. Daily Commute is 10 minutes and i sometimes ride my bike, but take longer trips on the weekend to L.A which is about 30 mintues to an hour away. If you have a small fuel efficient car and had a good or bad experience let me know! thank you!
What is the most fuel efficient car in the Philippine market? Toyota Vios? Honda Jazz? Kia Picanto? others? i drive quite conservative so that i don't waste gas... i just wanna know what you think is the best car that would best complement fuel-efficient driving in the streets of Metro Manila. 10 points to the most convincing answer. no emo answers on high gas prices or fanboy support answers that degrade other cars. it would be nice if there are figures that support your answer.
What is the "safest" and most efficient car? I'm currently driving a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire which is literally falling apart. The next car I purchase needs to be something affordable, hopefully somewhat fuel-efficient, and preferably not a death-trap. I'm a single, 20-year-old woman with no plans on having children any time soon. I'm planning on becoming a teacher, so the money may be an issue. I'm kind of a hippie/environmentalist, so I'd prefer not to get some giant gas-guzzler. Any (serious) suggestions are greatly appreciated. What I mean by "Not a death trap" is anything that's reasonably safe... Small cars don't bother me at all. I like smaller cars, actually... the few times I've had to borrow my mother's SUV for anything, it has honestly made me feel like I'm driving a school bus or something. If I ever got an SUV of any kind, it would have to be one of the newer "low-profile" ones or something... To me, size doesn't constitute "death-trap" status. :D
Why do people think car manufactures can make more efficient cars? I'm talking about people that think it is a conspiracy. I have a degree in Automotive Technology and I can tell you based on facts that their is no alternative that is as good as a gas or diesel powered car. I can also tell you that they have made amazing leaps in the technology in the last 30 years and no one seems to give them any credit for that. I'm all for the environment, I just think it makes people look dumb when they make blanket statements about oil companies preventing more efficient cars. If you want an efficient car buy a corolla or a Prius. They are available. Not everyone want to drive one so leave the rest of us alone and stop complaining about your car not getting good mileage if you bought an SUV.
What is a really cheap fuel efficient car? i wanna sell my current gas guzzlin sombitch for a cheaper car. im 18 have a shitty low paying job so its gotta be around 2,000 dollars. what is a $2,000 vehicle that is really efficient on gas? volvo maybe?
Obama said that he wants car manufacturers to make fuel efficient cars? Obama said that he wants car manufacturers to make much better fuel efficient cars. I read this article online in Yahoo News. Keep this in mind and continue reading. I understand that GM and Chrysler have filed for bankruptcy. GM is going to come back in 30 days I heard. Is this right? Back to Obama wanting car manufacturers to make better fuel efficient cars. Why the hell is Obama letting GM keep the "hummer"?????????? The hummer is not a fuel efficient car. I'm lost in my understanding of this.
Fuel efficient car with folding back seats ? I need to buy a car and I would like something that is fuel efficient, and which would give the possibility to totally fold the back seats, giving enough space to lie down (hotels are sometimes expensive on the road). Do you any car that would match those (somewhat contradictory) points ?? Thank you so much for your help !
What is the most energy efficient car? The car does not necessarily have to be available to the consumer or be fully operational/ finished. I was just curious how efficient some of the newer vehicles comming out are and what type of gas mileage they receive.
wanting to buy a cheap car just for work? How do i find out if a car is fuel efficient? i need to know. does the car have to be newer? is it the newer the car, the better the fuel efficient? i read something about cyllenders, is it the more cyllenders the more fuel effieicnt? i need to know these things, thanks. can a really good fuel efficient car be like in the 1990s car models? i need a really cheap car, looking to spend under $1000. one that runs great and realy cheap on gas. i dont care about the style. what are some really cheap cars?i need help
Did the fuel efficient car rebate amendment make it in the stimulus? From what I heard, senator Tom Harkin was trying to set up a account of 18 billion dollars I believe giving 10,000 dollar rebates to people who traded in their old cars for more fuel efficient ones, Does anyone know if this amendment made it in the stimulus ? I heard it this amendment was facing stiff opposition from trade lobbyist and might not make it , And if it didn't, Is their any kind of a rebate or incentive for the buying of a new car ? Thanks for your answers. God bless.
Whats the most fuel efficient car on the market? I'm getting a new car, what should I get to save on gas and money? I have my opinions and other people telling me what to buy but I would like more advice on buying the car thats going to be the cheapest and most fuel efficient. ...
What is the most efficient car in your opinion? Efficiency means gas consumption vs. the price you paid for the car...at least in my humble opinion...a really expensive car wouldn't be considered efficient to me...I'm talking the most bang for your buck...like a honda for example ;-)
What is the least fuel efficient Japanese car....? I have heard from people, who apparently have a long experience of cars, saying that in general Japanese cars are made more fuel efficient than any other car for example Toyota Prius, Toyota Corolla, Honda Accord etc. If a person just considers Japanese companies then which company makes the least fuel efficient cars and what cars are those? Thank you!
Does the government need to step in and force our car manufacturers to make more fuel efficient cars? Overall the free market system does pretty good most of the time. But everything has weaknesses that must be adjusted. Free market economics has failed miserably in getting cars to be more fuel efficient. Consumers do not make good choices, but continue driving low mileage cars. And irresponsible corporations continue making them. There is no rational reason to manufacture any new passenger cars that get less than 35 miles per gallon starting June 1, 2008.
Can you recommend a fuel efficient car that will fit two booster seats and an infant car seat? We are a family of five including a newborn, 3 yr old and 5 yr old. We want to downsize from our gas guzzling GMC Safari to something much more fuel efficient. We are hoping to find a good, comfortable car that will fit two boosters and an infant carrier side by side in the back, and still allowing room enough for the kids to buckle there own seat belts easily. Does such a car exist?
what would be the best fuel efficient car under £1000 to road trip around europe in? me and 2 friends are thinking of going a road trip through europe and we need a cheap fuel efficient car to get us around. owning a 206gti i would not like to take that as i would never be out of the petrol stations. if anyone has any advice i would appriciate it. and i would like some advice also on where the best places to go are and which roads are best. thanx
Fuel efficient car relating to chemistry? I'd like to write a report on a fuel efficient car and the chemical aspects of it for chemistry class. I don't know too much about it so please whatever you can tell me is great and so are links. thanks!
What is a good Fuel efficient car? I want a nice car. Fuel Efficient cause I actually care about the Earth (Call me a hippy). I heard Prius Pollutes more than a Hummer soo I;m not sure. I would prefer a non-american car. (NOn racial reasons). I like a Small Sporty car. Maybe 5 seats? Please comment on anything.
What is the cheepest fuel-efficient new car available in the US? I am looking for something very fuel efficient (30+ preferred) and very inexpensive (<$15,000). If its a subcompact or hatchback i don't mind. I have been looking at hybrids, but they seem to be a little too much more expensive for the amout of usage i would give my car (mostly short commutes). Rumors of a new cheep Honda Fit-like hybrid makes me wanna hold off though.
What the best fuel-efficient car which also has good performance? My vote would go to the BMW 330d - 245hp and 49.6mpg (imperial gallons) 0-62mph in 6.1secs Must have: at least 200hp and at least 35mpg (this works out at about 29 combined in the US). So Corvettes or Subaru Imprezas definitely do not count as fuel-efficient lol. R32 only does 29mpg, so thats nowhere near 35... Im assuming the US civic is the same engine as the UK Civic type r, in which case, its 31mpg, 0-62 in 6.6secs. So both of those are nowhere near the BMW. As for the VW, it doesn't have good performance and isnt even on sale yet. And yes, more expensive higher performance cars do tend to have high insurance.
What is the most gas and price efficient car on the market today? Yesterday, I had the heart stopping realization that the full tank of gas I put into my 94' ford exoplorer Monday on the way to work, was now on E less than a day later on the way home from work. With gas prices at an all time high, I know that one could understand how alarming this is. Since my place of residence isn't going to change anytime soon, and neither is my job or the time it takes (one hour and 30 minutes) to get there, I need a smaller, more compact car with gas burning efficiency out of this world. But, since I just started my job, I need it not to burn a hole completely through my pocket. I know a friend of mine has an 05' Impala that gets 33 miles to the gallon. Does anyone have another choice other than this one?
What is a good fuel efficient car for cheap? I am looking at getting a 95 eclipse, talon tsi, integra, or civic. I really want a tsi, but I don't want to have to repair it every month. What car has good gas mileage, and low maintenance for under 2500?
Should I trade in my V-6 Altima and get a more fuel efficient car like a Corolla? I love my car but I am so sick of spending 40 bucks to fill up. I checked into hybrids and the extra money you pay for them being a hybrid doesn't even make up for the fuel economy for a long time of ownership. The Corolla is the next best in gas mileage compared to hybrids. My Altima is woth almost 16K and I only owe 7K so I shouldn't have to make car payments... it would probably be a pretty close swap.
What is the most fuel efficient car available? Just like every other place in America, gas prices suck. I do a lot of driving and traveling, think its finally time to get a more fuel efficient car. I drive a ford fusion, now; and it gets almost 30mpg, which is good. However, I am looking to better that. thanks!
Are the big car companies preventing highly efficient cars from coming to the market? http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/entertainment/15190229.htm GM produced the EV1, a decidedly efficient, very low maintenance, fully electric car in response to a California law that required 2% of cars sold there to be fully electric. Instead of selling the cars, they leased them, until they could get the law overturned. When that was done, they fired everyone who was involved in its development, but not until after signing a non-disclosure agreement that prevented them from working on the same project with anyone else. Then they recalled all the cars and had them destroyed. Isn’t this a clear sign that GM cares little for it customers or the enviroment?
A good looking fuel efficient car? Any ideas? For my 18th birthday my Grandpa is buying me a brand new car. I want something that's nice and I can show off to my friends...but fuel efficient also. And I dont know hardly anything about cars...so yea. Thats where I am on this one. Any suggestions?
Most fuel efficient least expensive car on market? I am wanting to get a new car and have decided not to get another SUV. I want to get a reliable car that is fuel efficient. I would also like to keep the cost low. I would like to hear from people that are knowlegable about cars (mechanics, sales people, car lovers, etc.) on what type of car they would buy with the above characteristics. I should add that the reason for the cheap car at this time is to pay off being upside down quickly and then get the most fuel efficient SUV or bigger car.
