  1. Depending on the purchase, they give you a VAT form which you might be able to use to collect tax refunds. Canada as a country of course charges tax. SmartCars are supposed to be available in fall in America. I rode in a fortwo this winter. It was some test display by smart. They rattle, but they are not a bad idea. You can get one in canada and bring it back, i have neighbors who have done that, but they also have a dual citizenship with canada and US. Also, i dont know about MI's laws, but in New Jersey, it is a huge hassle to get the inspection and registration. Dont go to Canada and get it, you r wasting the warranty, unless you r goin to travel there every time u need a service. Also, u might miss out on any freebies the dealer might give u. Good luck!
  2. You can do it if you are willing to jump through a lot, A LOT, of hoops. Furthermore, you will pay more for the vehicle in Canada than you would if you simply bought it in MI.
  3. Good Luck- It will become a gray market car and have nearly NO value in the USA. Will not pass USA safety standards.
