What is a good Fuel efficient car?
I want a nice car. Fuel Efficient cause I actually care about the Earth (Call me a hippy). I heard Prius Pollutes more than a Hummer soo I;m not sure. I would prefer a non-american car. (NOn racial reasons). I like a Small Sporty car. Maybe 5 seats? Please comment on anything.

- I have a Hyundai Sonata. 5 seats, it gets great gas mileage, has good safety features and an awesome warranty...plus its pretty! I really like it and would buy another one.
- Nissan Sentra 38 mpg on freeway Mitsubishi lancer es 37 mpg freeway Mitsubishi evolution 25 mpg freeway Civic Hatchback can be very fast too and good on gas Ford Festiva 45 MPG on freeway about 500 bucks Ford Aspire 47mpg can get good also can get this around 500 bucks
- I have a 99 Saturn sl that gets 40 miles per gallon. Saturns have strong Frames and plastic bodies. Safe in wrecks and still light weight. Also they hold 5 passengers.
- I don't know where you heard that the Prius pollutes more than the hummer. Since when does a 4 cylinder pollute more than an 8 cylinder? never. It was proven that the Prius only gets 42 MPG instead of the 60 MPG that toyota said it gets, and only has 76 Horsepower. The average car of today has about 180-220 HP. My solid choice would be the Volkswagen Jetta. with 34 MPG http://vw.com/jetta/features/en/us/#exterior/jetta The new Jetta is larger than previous models, and it features a more spacious interior stuffed with convenience and lavished with Volkswagen's legendary attention to detail. Even the least-expensive model offers an elegant, high-quality cabin. Its driver enjoys excellent visibility and ease of use with logical controls and instruments. Build quality is superb inside and out. All in all, the new Jetta is a solid car. May your choice be the best
- Fuel efficient car means the combustion of the fuel is near 100%. The nearer to 100% is the combustion, the more fuel efficient is the car or if it reach 100% combustion then its a 100% fuel efficient car. You can occularly check the fuel efficiency of a car through the smoke that comes out of its exhaust pipe. The unburned fuel comes out of the engine through the exhaust pipe in the form of smoke. The lesser the smoke, the more fuel efficient is the car. But if you want numerical data on the fuel efficiency of the car, you can have it tested in a smoke emission test shop. You are concerned of fuel efficiency not fuel economy because you care for the earth, am i right? You can have a car with 1000 mpg but not fuel efficient and it pollutes the air.
- Well, a 2008 Ford Escape hybrid gets up to 36 mpg. Since you don't want domestics, Ford actually built their own hybrid engine and had it checked and approved by Toyota, which you can totally trust in quality. At least just look at it: http://www.fordvehicles.com/suvs/escapehybrid/ Check out its VERY impressive consumer reports from people who actually own one: http://autos.yahoo.com/ford_escape_hybrid-reviews_user/ But the Prius would be your best choice for a hybrid sedan because it gets up to 60 mpg.
- get something you feel comfortable in. Honda, Nissan, Toyota, VW, Saturn - called small cars because I cannot get into one find a good mechanic, ask them what is best to work on if you plan on keeping more than 3 years. Switchout oils and lubes to AmsOil synthetic, you could get 400,000 miles out of an engine, replacing pumps and steering, nuts and bolts as needed.
