Can you install genuine smart air con to your car if it was an optional extra?

I am considering purchasing a smart car for my daughters first car. But was just wondering if i could take it down to the local smart garage and ask for air con. Is this possible? I know it was an optional extra on this model. I would consider getting one with air con, but this one runs on LPG and she is at uni so she needs to save her pennies. All answers greatly welcome, cheers

Hi, although I cannot comment on the smart car you are asking about, I don't think you can add air conditioning to a car that hasn't come with it without major expense, I enquired about another car a while back and was quoted over £1500! I was advised that the actual air con unit is not too bad to fit, but there is a major amount of work needed to feed it into the heating system. Obviously the smart dealer will be best to advise.
