Listen, avoid this car it is total junk. The transmission doesn't use any type of clutch or converter. The outcome: Each time the transmission shifts (Auto/Man design) it bangs hard into gear; very abrupt and uncomfortable. Additionally, the little car is shifting up/down all the time; horrible everyday experience! Basically, the transmission lurches through gear changes with the awkwardness of a 15-year-old learning stick on his brother's Corolla; no pun intended. Buy a real car with good engineering, go view the Honda and Toyota lineup. The Honda Fit is the same price and 1000X better, plus the warranty is 3 yrs 36K miles unlike the Smart-car that is only 2yrs/24K miles. Trust me on this one!
