What are the pros and cons of buying/owning a SMART car?

I'm looking at SMART cars, and thinking about if i should get one.. what are some pros and cons of SMART cars? Cost, mpg, repairs, etc...

1. pro- good on gas, and are environmentally friendly con- people will laugh their asses off every time they see you driving around in a smart car because they look ridiculous.
2. Don't get one. Seriously don't get one. They have to be the fruitiest cars Ive ever seen in my life. Sure they would be good on gas but they don't protect you. There was an accident here a couple months ago where A truck ran into a smart car and they were pulling the guy out , he was in three different pieces.There cheap but there not worth it.
3. PROS - 1. Smart cars are not as noisy as normal sized cars. 2. They take up much less space when it comes to parking. 3. They add less chemical pollution to the air. 4. Their hazard to people and other cars is reduced. CONS - 1. You cannot take a Smart car on a cross country trip and maybe not even safely on the freeway. 2. Smart cars are typically only big enough to seat 2 people. 3. Smart cars may not be safe if you get into a crash with a larger, heavier vehicle.
4. It's ultra slow and for the price you pay for a smartcar,just pay a little more and get something 10 times better like a honda fit, kia rio, or toyota yaris
5. the smart cars may look cute and interesting but they lost that special something when they came to this country. first, the fuel mileage they get is good, but not good enough to where you have to drive that silly thing. the mileage in europe is much better. second, the 0-60 time is terrible, so if you are merging on a highway, it's not going to be too fun. it's almost an electric toothbrush motor... third, the price isn't that low on these cars. if you look at the specs, you aren't getting anything, it's a stripper. they SHOULD run around 8 to 10 grand and i've seen dealerships (in P.A. and NJ) selling them for 20,000! in europe, all the cars are small, they don't have the big SUV's and oversized crap that we have. this car to them is kind of little but practical. many people think it's a death trap but it had to go through strict safety standards to get here. there are a lot of other small cars that are nice looking and gas-misers that you can get. (like a mini cooper). if you live in the city you can get one and have an easy time parking, but riding a bike still rules out this car. the smart is almost novelty and gets you looks, mostly negative.
6. PROS: mpgs, parallel parking, deth in an accident if you are suicidal.. CONS: overpriced, unreliable, small, limited passenger room, ugly, impractical, slow, horrible handling, dangerous...they are basically a soupped up golf cart.. get a motorcycle.. or a honda fit.. the fit is a really amazing car...
