How fast can a smart car go?

I was on the highway doing 65 miles per hour in a 65 and got passed by a woman doing at least 72 in a smart car. How fast are they supposed to go? Just curious.

LOL If I remember correctly, the speedos on the ones in Europe max out at 140 KPH or 87ish MPH.Don't know about the ones being sold here. They've been thick in Europe for years. Edit: just occurred to me, ROFLMAO,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, How fast would a smart car go if a smart car could go fast..... (think wood-chuck tounge twister).
4. The heck with how fast it is, Mrs. Storm. My question is HOW SAFE IS THE SMART CAR, when I am driving a 7000 pound Dodge Ram coming right at you! That little car can fit in my truck bed! I also want to know WHO is the dumb-ass who called it the SMART car, because they are NOT that smart!!!
