Obama said that he wants car manufacturers to make fuel efficient cars?
Obama said that he wants car manufacturers to make much better fuel efficient cars. I read this article online in Yahoo News. Keep this in mind and continue reading. I understand that GM and Chrysler have filed for bankruptcy. GM is going to come back in 30 days I heard. Is this right? Back to Obama wanting car manufacturers to make better fuel efficient cars. Why the hell is Obama letting GM keep the "hummer"?????????? The hummer is not a fuel efficient car. I'm lost in my understanding of this.
Public Comments
- Huh?? The Hummer will no longer be made....at least not by the American GM. They announced this last week. Others no longer being made have more to do with marketability, such as Saab, Pontiac, and Saturn.
- GM sold the Hummer brand by my reckoning. But unfortunately, we are witnessing the end of capitalism because at the end of this mess, the US government will have a 70% stake in GM.
- They live in Lalaland thinking GM will get it together in 30-90 days. Its not going to happen. They have to close plants and close dealerships permanently, cut back on benefits for UAW workers, or else THEYRE DONE!
- We'll all have to drive 2 seater tin can Fiats cause if we don't he will make sure the gas prices rise to the point that no one can afford not to.
- We need fuel efficient cars, so we can simply buy foreign made cars form Toyota,Honda,Volkswagen, etc. I DO NOT want a government regulated automobile.I already have an 00' Accord so I am set.
- Now he just needs to pass a bill to make everyone buy them.
- Watch "The Death of The Electric Car" They ALREADY created a ZERO emission car. hybrids and these fuel efficient cars are stupid. They are not that fuel efficient it's nothing more but a compromise car. The california mandate of No emission did not pass which would require automakers to created zero emission vehicles. When this happen, all the Electic cars were crushed and destroyed. Check out the EV1 they advertisement were poorly done. I left alienated just looking at those old ads. The problem is nobody wants people off of oil completely. Too much money involved. If he really wants to save the environment he would have to bring the EV1 and it's tech from the grave.
- As part of the bankruptcy process, the Hummer brand will be sold to another company or eliminated. The same will happen to other GM brands that were acquired at some point in the past by the company, including Opel, Saab, and Saturn. Obama didn't have to tell GM to get rid of these brands. It was going to happen anyway. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124389949105974407.html?mod=googlenews_wsj
- Actually it's the marketplace not Obama wanting manufacturers to make fuel efficient cars. Successful businesses are aware what people want and what they buy are 2 totally different things. I want a Lamborghini but I'm coming home with a Toyota or Honda. That's a concept GM failed to grasp judging by all the truck plants they built that they are currently closing. Notice Honda and Toyota had fuel efficient cars ready when gas prices rose and they're operational. Obviously it's possible because 2 real world examples are going down the road as I type this. Obama is not letting GM keep the Hummer and GM had way too many brands anyway. How many car lines do Toyota and Honda have? Corolla and Camry, Accord and Civic. How many did GM have?
- That is good to make more fuel efficient vehicles, but look what people buy! Number one selling vehicle is a Ford truck and number two is the Chevy trucks and number ten is the Dodge truck.Make them get better economy too.And while on this note why has fuel economy gone down in the last 20 years and why is it that in the 60's fuel economy wasn't too much different than today's comparable vehicle.I guess all this modern technology is good for cleaner emissions but it really doesn't help that much for fuel economy.
- Yes. What's wrong with fuel efficient cars? We've had the CAFE standards for at least 25 years. GM is selling the Hummer division to an overseas purchaser. Next.
